Jake est venu avec son père Jon au Championnat de France. C'était sa deuxième course en France, et il apprécie beaucoup cette confrontation avec les pilotes français
Après un voyage de 12 heures, nous sommes arrives à Bray Dunes à 7h30 le vendredi matin et nous avons commence à gréer le char. Je suis accueilli par Antoine de la Fouchardière et François Noguier.
Avec des conditions meteo parfaites pour rouler, nous partons tous pour quelques heures d’entrainement. J’ai trouvé la plage difficile et piégeuse d’un premier abord, avec beaucoup d’eau, de ridens et comme toujours de sable mou, mais je me suis adapté au fur et à mesure que le temps passait.
Nous sommes remontés à la marée remontante (rapidement) et nous nous sommes retrouvé autour d’une bière après ce long voyage.
Samedi : 1er et meilleur jour pour courir en classe 3. Nous avons fait 4 manches avec des conditions météo parfaites. Vent medium soufflant dans l’axe de la plage rendant possible le gain ou la perte de places dans les 4 manches. Après qu’Antoine et Hélène m’aient traduit le briefing, et je les en remercie, nous commençons la course.. J’ai passé la journée à me confronter à Antoine, Ludovic et Hélène, et j’ai trouvé la manière de courir très différente de celle pratiquée en Grande Bretagne, et aussi très formatrice.. Après la fin des manches, nous nous retrouvons autour d’une bière à regarder les autres chars et voir si des améliorations peuvent être faites. Merci à Olivier d’avoir parqué son char près du mien.
Dimanche, et après avoir vu le redouté drapeau jaune 2 fois, une seule manche fut validée avec un vent faiblissant, et la marée qui commençait à envahir la bouée ouest. Cela rendait le pilotage très difficile et j’ai du pousser quelques fois. Mauvais jour pour rouler !
Le soir, agréable dîner avec tous les pilotes à la salle Danny Boon.
Lundi, et pas trop tôt, le vent était encore plus faible que le reste du WE, mais le temps était au beau. Nous avons attendu sur la ligne, et comme le vent n’est jamais venu, comme vous l’imaginez, nous avons fait plus de bains de soleil que de char.
Mon père et moi avons passé un très agréable WE et voudrions remercier les organisateurs pour m’avoir laissé participer à ce Championnat. Egalement merci au Directeur de course, aux bénévoles, Hélène Cazier et Antoine de la Fouchardière pour les traductions.

After a 12 hour journey we arrived at bray dunes at 7.30 friday morning and started setting up the yacht. I was then greeted by Antoine de la fouchardiere and francois noguier.
With the weather conditions perfect for sailing we all went out for a vital couple of hours practicing. I found the beach tricky to sail at first with a lot of water, ripples and as always soft sand but i soon adapted as i went on.
I then retired from the beach as the tide was fast approaching and after the long journey we found our selves at the bar with a beer.
Saturday first day of racing and the best day for racing with class 3 having four races as weather conditions were again perfect. Medium winds blowing straight down the beach making it easy to gain or loose places in all 4 races. After Antoine and Helene had translated the briefing for me which i am very thankful for we started racing. I spent the day racing against Antoine, Ludovic and Helene and found the racing very different to racing in the UK and also very educational. After racing had finished we found our selves in the with another beer and looking at the yacht to see if any improvements could be made, thanks Olivier for parking your yacht next to mine.
Sunday and after seeing the dreaded yellow flag twice only only one race was achieved with the wind being lighter and the tide fast aproaching the down wind turning marker this made the sailing very difficult and some pushing had to be done and a bad day for racing. sunday night we all got together for a very pleasant evening at Danny Boons for food and drinks.
Monday morning and not as early start, the wind was the lowest it had been all weekend but the weather was still very nice. we waited on the line for wind that never came and everyone i think did sunbathing than sailing.
Me and my farther have a very enjoyable weekend and would like to say many thanks to the organisers for letting me participate in the championships also to the sailing master, beach staff, Helene Cazier and Antoine De La Fouchardiere for translations. I had a great weekend and hope to see everyone at the world championships
